The 43rd edition of Arte Fiera opened today to the public in Bologna, under the artistic direction of Simone Menegoi. This year there is a total of 141 galleries participating, invited to display a select choice of artists. The fair is divided into two sections. The Main Section ranges from the Modern genre to contemporary and research art, while the second Photography and moving images focuses on photography and video, entrusted to the art direction of the curatorial platform Fantom. The public program also includes five substantial projects. Pavilion 26 hosts the exhibition Solo figura sfondo, curated by Davide Ferri, which includes works from institutional, public and private collections, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, which celebrates the artistic heritage of this area. This is the first instalment of a series titled Courtesy Emilia-Romagna. In the same pavilion, the magazine Flash Art curates a programme of talks and round tables, focused on the topic of art in Italy today, with the title of Dialoghi sull'arte italiana. Moreover, the Service Centre hosts a lounge created by the artist Flavio Favelli, named Hic et Nunc, "'inhabitable sculpture" which greets Arte Fiera public upon arrival into the fair. In this area, Fondazione Golinelli also presents from Friday to Saturday, February 1-3, the educational workshops micro//macro, which investigate the relationship between art and science and are dedicated to young visitors. Finally, Silvia Fanti curates the programme of performances Oplà. Performing activities, which links the spaces of the fair to those of the city. The programme is based on the projects of four internationally renowned Italian artists: Alex Cecchetti, Cesare Pietroiusti, Cristian Chironi, Nico Vascellari.
