First VIP Preview: Tue, Dec 4, 4:30pm – 5:30pm VIP Preview: Tue, Dec 4, 5:30pm – 10pm Fair Hours: Wed, Dec 5 – Sat, Dec 8, 11am –8pm and Sun, Dec 9, 11am – 6pm For its fourth year at Art Miami (December 4 – 9), Miami's premier anchor fair, Long-Sharp Gallery is pleased to announce a booth combining old and new: masterworks will be displayed alongside paintings and sculptures by contemporary artists, many of whom are recognizable for patrons of recent Florida art museum exhibitions. In addition to original works by Antoni Tàpies (2015 solo exhibition, Pérez Art Museum Miami in 2015) and fellow Spanish artists Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso, viewers will also find sculpture by Gino Miles (2017-18 solo exhibition, the Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland), mixed media paintings by Jason Myers (2017 solo exhibition, the Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland), and paintings by British pop artist David Spiller (2018 group exhibition, Cornell Museum, Delray Beach), for whom Long-Sharp is the sole U.S. representative. Smaller sculptures by New York and India-based artist Tarik Currimbhoy, and wall sculpture by Cha Jong Rye of South Korea, will also be on view. The booth encourages visitors to view storied painters next to a stable of exciting contemporary artists—and their work speaks to patience, presence, and painterly beauty, all of which are, today, welcome and necessary respites. "Many of these pieces can be appreciated by sitting with them, taking time with them," says gallery founder Rhonda Long-Sharp. "Gino's pieces rotate; Currimbhoy's sway, and have a different effect depending on how the light hits them. We're bringing art that's beautiful, a little uplifting. I made a point to select works that sing love, beauty, hope, comfort." Contact info Nicole M.L. Sharp, Director nicole@longsharpgallery.com +1 317 366 1225 |
